Gyukatsu Motomura (Ikebukuro Branch)

Visited Gyukatsu Motomura in Ikebukuro and it was one of the best meals I have had in Tokyo. The beef cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside The set came with rice miso soup and sides. I would definitely come back again

Went during lunch time and we were a group of 3. There was no queue, service was fast, dining experience and the taste was exceptional. The location is walkable from Don Quijote and other malls which is a plus if you wanna walk after a heavy gyukatsu meal.

Quality gyukatsu at reasonable prices. The rice is refillable so ask away. I ordered the 1.5 gyukatsu and the beef was so tender and melt in your mouth consistency. I dined in around 6:30 PM and there is a group ahead of me. Just be wary during peak hours there could be wait times. But the wait is well worth it as the food is good.

We decided to eat at Gyukatsu Motomura in Ikebukuro, where our AirBnB was located. Easy to find and right upstairs by 7-11. Came here right when they opened. It’s located on the 2nd floor. Good thing we came early as it filled up fast! The restaurant is pretty small, tight and not good for big groups; mostly for a group of 4 but if you come early, you may be able to reserve how many tables. We ordered their beef culets with beer combo. Each of us had different portions of the cutlets. I only got one order. My hubs got one and a half order of the cutlets. My bro-in-law got two orders! The price at $19 for 1 combo, $24 for 1.5 cutlet combo order and for the 2 cutlets combo was about $27; including beer. That was not bad for a combo and good size beef. The cutlet was tender and juicy. You can cook it on the little grill to your liking. It comes with rice, soup, cabbage salad, sauce and a little dessert as well. I love the miso dressing for the cabbage or whatever you like it with. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were many other selections as well. I would recommend if in Japan and this area. I would come back here again.

Delicious and fun! The meat is tender and it’s a great experience, the meal comes so fast and has many different flavors and side dishes. Service was great, didn’t even have to ask for a change of plate, it’s like they read your mind haha. Very attentive and kind!

Gyukatsu is one of our favorite food and Gyukatsu Motomura did not disappoint! The service is amazing and tentative, Gyukatsu is delicious. The beef is tender yet flavorful and the batter coats the beef perfectly. Best of all, you get free refill of rice! Please come here if you like gyukatsu!

If you enjoy tonkatsu or torikatsu, you’ll probably love gyukatsu. Gyukatsu Motomura is one of the best places to try it. What makes this spot unique is the DIY cooking style: the beef is served lightly seared, and you finish grilling it to your preferred doneness at your table. The quality of the meat was excellent, especially considering the reasonable price. Side dishes were decent; I’m personally not a fan of the barley rice, but for those who are, free refills are available. Service was fast and very polite, creating a smooth and pleasant dining experience.
